Surnames in this Project: This project is for Haplogroup T1.  We have established separate projects for T  and for T2.  Our projects are open to person who has already had a mtDNA test with reported result of any T haplogroup.   (This includes at least T, T*, T1, T2, T3, T4, T5)  Participants are sought from all parts of the world.                                                  

Project Discussion: The mtDNA information is to be used in conjunction with historical and traditional research. DNA results do not often “prove” a relationship, but can be quite helpful in guiding research. If a DNA profile does not match traditional genealogy, a hypothesized relationship may be incorrect.  At other times DNA results may point to an unknown adoption in the family.

• We also encourage everyone in this project to upgrade their test to include HVR2.
