Richard BartonDr. Barton received his medical degree from Albany Medical College, Albany, New York in 1982. He completed a four year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Loyola University of Chicago Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois in 1986. He is a board certified Obstetrician Gynecologist. Dr. Barton's passion for genealogy was sparked by his aunt, who was the family historian. She wrote a book on the history of her grandfather which is a treasured family heirloom. More than a collection of dates, this book made personal history come alive. The Internet and an interest in genealogy brought an invitation to join the Barton Historical Society. Dr. Barton is currently vice-president of the organization and is the primary webmaster directing its suite of websites. The Barton Historical Society has taken on as its goal to preserve the history of all Bartons who have ever lived. Although this is a relatively recent development in the history of the organization, great strides have been made in just the past two years. The Barton Historical Society is becoming a robust organization promoting Barton genealogical research worldwide. The Barton Surname DNA project has been a large part of the Society's endeavors. In recognition of the fact that the father's surname is just one of a person's many surname lineages, the World Families Network has been started to take the work of the Barton Historical Society to all collateral families.
