Surname DNA testing is the newest tool available to genealogists. These tests help genealogists verify their paternal ancestry (father's father) in a quick and easy way. It saves time, prevents mistakes, and provides invaluable data that can be obtained in no other way.

The Ó Conchobhair, O’Connor, Connor(s), and Conner(s) Family Project has the following goals:

1.  To reconstruct the personal history and “ethnic roots” of our ancestors, from the best “history book” possible—our DNA — by gathering DNA samples from as many people with

Ó Conchobhair, O’Connor, O’Conor, Connor, Connors, Conner, and Conners ancestors as possible.  (Other variant spellings are also welcome to join this project).

We will be able to learn more precisely where our ancestors originated from and re-construct the history of our ancestors in much more depth through participation in this project, and as scientists and anthropologists build up databases with more DNA samples.  

Personally, you will be able to find out what your own “ethnic roots” are,
compare your results with
other participants, find common or related families and work together to find your common heritage.

 

2.  To identify the DNA signatures of the six distinct O’Connor Clans in Ireland and determine

 if and how the Clans and their Septs are related.  They are:
